Disclaimers and important information.
What is Family Protector?
Family Protector is an accidental death insurance plan. It pays a lump-sum benefit to your beneficiary if a covered family member dies as the result of a qualifying accident. It is not traditional life insurance, and it does not cover death from illness or natural causes — it's built to protect your family's finances against a sudden, accidental loss.
How much does it cost?
$30 a month — about $1 a day — or $330 a year if you pay annually. Your premium is level: it does not increase as your family grows or changes.
How much coverage can I get?
Coverage depends on the plan you choose. The largest single benefit is $300,000 for the primary insured under Plan 1. Plan 2 splits $150,000 each between you and your spouse. Plan 3 covers you for $250,000 plus $25,000 for each child. Plan 4 covers you for $200,000, your spouse for $50,000, and each child for $25,000.
Who can be the primary insured?
Either spouse can be named as the primary earner and primary insured — your household chooses.
Can my spouse and children be covered?
Yes, depending on the plan you select. Plan 2 covers your spouse for $150,000. Plan 4 covers your spouse for $50,000 and each child for $25,000, and Plan 3 covers each child for $25,000. Children's coverage generally ends at age 25.
Are newborns and adopted children covered?
Under Plan 4, newborn and newly adopted children are automatically covered under certain conditions, as described in your policy.
Is there a medical exam or health questionnaire?
No medical exam and no blood work. Because this is accidental death coverage, approval is not based on your health history. The application is online and takes only a few minutes.
What kinds of accidents are covered?
Qualifying accidents include events such as auto accidents, workplace accidents, falls, and other accidental injuries that result in death. To pay a benefit, the death must result directly from the accident, independent of any other cause, and occur within 365 days of the injury.
What is NOT covered?
This is the most important thing to understand before you apply. Family Protector pays only for death caused by a covered accident. It does not pay for death from illness or natural causes, including cancer, heart attack, stroke, and most diseases. Other standard exclusions also apply — your policy and certificate list them in full.
If it doesn't cover illness, why would I want it?
Accidents are sudden, unpredictable, and a leading cause of death among working-age adults — often the very people a family depends on for income. For about $1 a day, Family Protector puts up to $300,000 of protection in place with no medical exam. Most families use it as an affordable supplement to traditional life insurance, not a replacement, filling a gap at a price that's hard to match.
Do benefits change with age?
Premiums stay level. However, for applicants ages 56–65, benefit amounts are reduced to 50% of the scheduled amounts. For example, the $300,000 Plan 1 benefit becomes $150,000.
How do I apply?
The application is online and takes only a few minutes — no exam and no medical records to gather. Choose your plan, name your beneficiaries, and make your first payment to put coverage in place.
